Seggerman Recognized for Overcoming Challenges to Compete

Princeton rising junior Ryan Seggerman, a first-team All-Ivy doubles honoree this spring, was diagnosed with Type I diabetes two years ago.
That didn't stop him from achieving that All-Ivy honor, nor did it keep him from getting into the ITA top 125 in singles as a freshman or reaching as high as No. 15 on the ITA doubles list this past season, along with being one of the first Tiger pair to win an NCAA doubles match for the first time since 2001.
For his tennis success while competing with diabetes, Seggerman was one of two recipients to earn the 2019 Novo Nordisk Donnelly Award, which provided a one-time scholarship toward education, tennis development or medical care.
Seggerman won the honor in May and was presented the award at the Philadelphia Freedoms' World Team Tennis match Tuesday at Saint Joseph's' Hagan Arena alongside co-winner Brendan Wolan, a student at Illinois, and World Team Tennis co-founder and tennis legend Billie Jean King.
