Alarie Helps USA To Silver Medal at Pan American Games

LIMA, PERU – Bella Alarie and the United States women's basketball team brought home the silver medal after falling to Brazil, 79-73, in the 2019 Pan American Games Final last night.

This is Alarie's second silver medal with USA Basketball as she helped her country to a second-place finish at the 2017 U-19 FIBA World Cup.

Alarie and the United States went undefeated in pool play, taking down Argentina (70-62), the U.S. Virgin Islands (103-55) and Columbia (75-63). In the semifinal, Puerto Rico missed a three-pointer at the end of regulation as Alarie's squad came up with a 62-59 victory.

In front in the fourth quarter, Brazil registered 7-of-8 from the charity stripe to defeat the United States in the Gold Medal Game. Alarie's best contest came against Columbia where she contributed seven points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals. In five games overall, the two-time Ivy League Player of the Year secured 6.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals per contest for the United States.
