Men's Golf Team to Compete in Yale's MacDonald Cup This Weekend
September 24, 2019 | Men's Golf
The second tournament of the fall will bring the Princeton men's golf team to The Course at Yale for the MacDonald Cup, a 54-hole event with 36 holes Saturday and 18 Sunday on the par-70, 6,749-yard course.
The first tee times are at 7:10 a.m. for Saturday's two rounds. Sunday's single round will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
Five Ivy programs will be in the field, with Brown, Harvard and Penn joining the Tigers and Bulldogs. Bucknell, Colgate, Fairfield, Fordham, LaSalle, Minnesota and St. John's will join the Ivies in the 12-team field.
Princeton has played in the MacDonald Cup annually since the fall of 2014 and has a high finish during that stretch of third last season. The top three Tiger finishers from last year will compete this year, with Evan Quinn, Jake Mayer and Max Ting in that trip. Guy Waterhouse, Sam Clayman and Jackson Fretty will join them in the play-six, count-four format, with Henry Dubiel competing as an individual.
It will be the first competitions for freshmen Fretty and Dubiel after Quinn led the Tigers in the season-opening Rod Myers Invitational two weekends ago at Duke.
