Princeton Men's Soccer Alumni Check-In: John Dziadzio '92
May 13, 2020 | Men's Soccer
Name, Class, Current Job, Family:
John Dziadzio '92
I am married to Lisi (SMU Soccer '92) and we have four children: Ava (19), Elle (17), John Myles (14), Graydon (9). I currently work in finance and enjoy serving as Co-President of the Friends Of Princeton Soccer!
Position played and major and thesis topic:
Outside Back/Midfield. My thesis was an Analysis of the Radio Broadcast Advertising Market.
Most memorable game at Princeton. Why?
I was lucky enough to have too many to reduce to one! One of the biggest was a win at Yale freshman year to clinch the Ivy Title. A win at Brown sophomore year was memorable because I was called in as an emergency goalie because Tommy McCabe still had a chunk of Laurie-Love Field in his knee! Finally, scoring the winning goal in OT to beat #1 Rutgers at home my Senior year.
Toughest loss:
Loss to Philadelphia Textile in the NCAA First Round Tournament at home.
Funniest on-field story while at Princeton:
I count training as on the field...Karl Schellscheidt throwing the cleat of a player over the fence to make a point!
Best players on the team during your era:
Chris Unger, Jim Barlow, Joey Thieman
Most underrated player on the team during your era: Why?
Chris Ruder
Funniest teammate and any examples of what made him funny:
Easy...Rob Myslik...too many to enumerate!
Players on the team you still keep in touch with:
Dave Maldonado met me for lunch recently in NYC when visiting with his daughter from Dallas. I keep in touch with many players and enjoy catching up at games. Hope to see more players at our Friends Group outings!
Message/Advice for the current players:
These are the guys that will always be there for you, and these are the memories you will cherish most.
