Wrestling Program Aims to Continue Climb as Class of 2024 is Introduced

The 2020 season saw the Princeton wrestling team win its first Ivy League title since 1986 and earn a program-record four All-American accolades, among other highlights. Now, the team will add a nine-member Class of 2024 to a program whose lineup from the EIWA Championships had just two seniors.
Here's a look at the Class of 2024:
Blaine Bergey
Cumming, Ga. • Buford • 157/165
Bergey had a 177-13 record in high school, winning two Georgia state titles and making the state finals all four times. Bergey was a champion at the Kansas City Stampede, a two-time champion at the Mount Mat Madness event, and was an NHSCA Academic All-American.
Anthony Clark
East Hanover, N.J. • Delbarton • 133/141
Clark went 140-10 in high school and won three New Jersey state titles. He was an Escape the Rock champion, a Fargo All-American, a multi-time placewinner at both the Super 32 and Beast of the East events, and a champion at the Journeyman tournament.
Nick Kayal
Elmwood Park, N.J. • Bergen Catholic • 125
Kayal went 139-33 in high school and earned medalist honors in New Jersey all four years. He was also a four-time medalist at the Beast of the East, winning a title at the 2017 event, and was a three-time medalist at the Doc Buchanan tournament.
Nick Masters
Acworth, Ga. • Woodward • 133/141
Masters posted a 240-7 record in high school and won four state titles in Georgia. Masters was a three-time NHSCA All-American, a two-time Fargo All-American, and a 2018 UWW All-American.
Jonathan Miers
Forks Township, Pa. • Wyoming Seminary • 149
A 2018 Pennsylvania state runner-up, Miers was a third-place finisher at the 2018 Prep Nationals and had a 122-23 record in high school. Prior to Wyoming Seminary, he competed at Easton High School.
Brandon Spellman
Basking Ridge, N.J. • Pingry • 125
Spellman, who went 120-27 in high school, finished eighth at 113 at the New Jersey state championship in 2019 and was a two-time state championship qualifier.
Mikey Squires
Norwich, N.Y. • Norwich • 174/184
Squires was a New York state finalist in 2019 and 2020, won a freestyle state title in 2019, and was a placewinner all four years and twice in freestyle competition. He was also a four-time sectional champion, a four-time conference champion, a four-time New York State Scholar-Athlete, and a three-time state captain while going 177-28 in high school. He was also a three-time placewinner at the Eastern States meet.
Nathan Stefanik
Nazareth, Pa. • Nazareth • 157/165
A two-time Pennsylvania state medalist, Stefanik went 103-37 in high school. He'll be joining his brother, Travis, who is two years into a Princeton career that has seen him qualify for two NCAA Championships.
Luke Stout
Mt. Lebanon, Pa. • Mt. Lebanon • 184/197
Stout turned in three top-four finishes in the state in his Mt. Lebanon career, turning in a 153-16 record and winning a state title along with another runner-up finish. He won a cadet title at the Fargo tournament while also finish fifth in the junior competition, and he finished first and third in trips to the Journeyman tournament.
