Bob Bradley '80 Hosts Jesse Marsch '96 On "Between Two Coaches"
June 15, 2020 | Men's Soccer
Two Princeton men's soccer alums who have spent their coaching careers at the highest levels of the sport sat down for an in-depth conversation on team-building, education, and what it takes to achieve high goals.
Bob Bradley '80, currently manager of Los Angeles FC in MLS, has been hosting "Between Two Coaches" over recent weeks and his latest guest was Jesse Marsch '96. Currently the head coach of Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, Marsch was an assistant with Bradley during his time as head coach of the U.S. Men's National Team.
Bradley was a four-time letterwinner during his playing days at Princeton, competing in two NCAA Tournaments. From 1984-95, he was head coach at his alma mater where he won two Ivy League championships and appeared in three NCAA Tournaments -- including a run to the national semifinals in 1993. At the end of that 1993 season, he was named NSCAA National Coach of the Year.
Marsch played for Bradley during his time at Princeton, before embarking on a 14-year professional playing career where he was part of three MLS championships. After his playing days, Marsch started his coaching career as an assistant with Bradley and the USMNT during the 2010 World Cup cycle. Since then, Marsch has been head coach of the Montreal Impact and New York Red Bulls in the MLS before guiding Red Bulls Salzburg to the Austrian Cup championship in 2020.
