Women's Tennis Has Impressive Opening Day at ITA Northeast Super Regionals

PRINCETON, N.J. – Five singles players and one doubles duo advanced on an impressive opening day for the Princeton University women's tennis team at the 2021 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Super Regional Championships at the Lenz Tennis Center
The duo of juniors Daria Frayman and Grace Joyce topped Yesica De Lucas and Jayden Neilsen of St. John's, 6-2, 6-0, in Round of 16 Doubles.
In Round of 32 singles, senior No. 102 Brianna Shvets overcame Columbia's Akanksha Bhan, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 and freshman Victoria Hu defeated Harvard's Iveta Daujotaite, 6-3, 6-3. Freshman Neha Velaga also earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Polina Akimova of UMass, while sophomore Maia Sung downed Shiori Ito of Syracuse, 7-5, 6-3. Rounding out the Tigers' winners was Frayman, who triumphed 6-2, 6-0 over Columbia's Jennifer Kerr.
