Women's Soccer Downs Cornell on Senior Day, 1-0

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's soccer team downed Cornell University 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium on the Tigers' senior day.

Prior to kickoff, a short ceremony was held honoring the Princeton women's soccer senior class; Grace Barbara, Caroline Noonan, Aza Keohan, Amy Paternoster, Olivia Kane, Gabi Juarez, Emma Davis, Tatum Gee, and Lucy Rickerson.

Junior Grace Sherman was the Tigers' goal scorer, while sophomores Aria Nagai and Alexis Hiltunen each added an assist. Juarez finished with a match-high four shots on goal, while Gee and Sherman added two apiece. Barbara added five saves for the Tigers, her fifth solo shutout of the year and the Tiger's eight shutout on the season.

As a team, Princeton out-shot the Big Red 16-10 and recorded 11 shots on goal to five by Cornell.

With 31:30 on the clock, Sherman shot to the low left corner and found the back of the net after receiving assists from Nagai and Hiltunen, which gave the Tigers a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

A pair of clutch saves by Barbara helped keep Cornell at bay in the second half, as she stopped a shot that went low to the right with 86:07 on the clock and another that went to the low center at 87:26. As Princeton held off Cornell's late flurry of shots, time expired and Princeton prevailed with a final score of 1-0.
