Princeton is set to race at the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Tallahassee, bringing a team which has claimed Ivy League and NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional championships already this season to the national meet.
The Tigers are ranked No. 16 in the latest USTFCCCA national rankings following their performance at Regionals last weekend. The Tigers were first among 26 teams at Regionals, posting scoring finishes of 5-6-8-10-11 to tally 40 points.
"We build all season to be at our best in this meet, and I think this group is ready," said Ivy League Coach of the Year Jason Vigilante. "We've been on this course already this season, and we're sound from both a tactical and physical standpoint heading into this meet. There's no better time to be at your best than at NCAAs, and I am confident we have one more great performance in us for 2021."
Princeton has competed at NCAAs 16 times dating back to 1969. Princeton's most recent team qualification to the NCAA Championships came in 2018 when the Tigers finished 22nd.
All-time, Princeton's best finish as a team at the NCAA Championships came in 2012 when the Tigers were 11th.
Two Tigers who raced in 2018 are expected to be in Princeton's lineup this weekend – Matt Grossman (102nd in 2018) and Ed Trippas (210nd in 2018). The rest of Princeton's lineup is slated to be first-time runners at NCAAs
