Men's Ice Hockey Downed By Clarkson
November 20, 2021 | Men's Ice Hockey
Princeton spotted Clarkson a two-goal lead midway through the first period, and the Tigers were never able to recover in an 8-3 loss at Hobey Baker Rink.
Â
Finn Evans had two goals and an assist for the Tigers, giving him three goals and five points for the weekend.
Â
After the Golden Knight took an early lead, the Tigers countered with an Evans goal with 7:48 left in the first period to get within one, but that was as close as the Tigers would get. Minutes after Alex Campbell scored a power-play goal for Clarkson to extend its lead to 2-0, Evans deflected a Mark Paolini shot by Ethan Haider to get Princeton on the board.
Â
In the second period, though, it was all Clarkson. The Golden Knights scored twice in a span of 2:08 early in the middle frame to take a 4-1 lead. Matthieu Gosselin scored 2:04 into the period, assisted by Campbell, and then the two reversed roles on their next shift with Campbell scoring his second of the game off a Gosselin feed. Ayrton Martino would add Clarkson's fifth goal with 5:51 left in the second period.
Â
The two teams traded goals in the third period, Evans scoring his second of the game 6:03 into the period off assists from Corey Andonovski and Ian Murphy. The Tigers would add a third via Andonovski with 5:15 remaining, assisted by Paolini and Evans.
Â
The Tigers return to action at Hobey Baker Rink on November 26, taking on RIT at 7 p.m.
