Men's Soccer Strikes Twice In Second Half For Win At Colgate

Princeton ventured into the win column for the first time in the 2021 men's soccer season following a 2-0 win at Colgate on September 12.
After a scoreless first half, the Tigers connected twice in a span of 11:19 to break the tie and secure their first win of the season. Jack Roberts was only called on to make one save but he did so en route to his fourth career shutout.
Moulay Hamza Kanzi Belghiti opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, finishing a lovely sequence for the Tigers with a lot shot that snuck inside the near right post. Princeton built its offense nicely throughout the sequence, winning a header in the defensive third to start a counter attack. Kevin O'Toole deftly dropped a pass to a charging Ryan Clare who turned on the jets and charged into the attacking third and drawing Colgate defenders. Clare timed his entry pass to Belghiti precisely and the the senior calmly deposited his first career goal.
Colgate had a decent chance in the 7th minute, but Alex Charles put together a nice recovery and his sliding effort blocked Kian Alberto's shot from the top of the box.
The Tigers owned a 12-2 edge in shots during the match and held a decided 8-1 advantage in shots on goal. Princeton earned 7 corners to just a pair for Colgate. There were six total yellow cards issued in the game, four to Colgate and a pair to Princeton.
The Tigers return to action on September 15, hosting Fairfield. Kickoff with the Stags is set for 7 p.m. at Sherrerd Field.

Just under eight minutes later, Francis Akomeah-Sirleaf added his first career goal, pouncing on the rebound of a Daniel Diaz-Bonilla shot and hammering in the loose ball in the 65th minute.53': PRINCETON GOAL!
