No. 14 Princeton Earns Split During Day Two of Navy Invite

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The No. 14 Princeton Tigers secured a split during day two of the Navy Invitational.
No. 3 California 11, No. 14 Princeton 9
California opened the contest with the first two goals, but Princeton battled back to tie the contest at 2-all through eight minutes.
The two top-15 squads exchanged tallies in the second frame with Cal holding a 5-4 advantage at the break. Princeton tied the game at 5-all to begin the second half before Cal ran off three consecutive goals over a two-minute stretch. The Tigers eventually closed the deficit to two, 8-6, after three quarters.
Princeton did not go away, tying the match for a fifth time at 8-all with 5:52 left. Cal reestablished the lead with two straight tallies, but Mitchell Cooper's goal with 2:19 remaining gave the Tigers a chance. Cal closed out the scoring with five seconds to go to earn the 11-9 win.

Head coach Dustin Litvak's team hosts the Princeton Invitational at DeNunzio Pool next weekend (Sept. 10-12).
