Women’s Swimming and Diving Trail Yale, Lead Harvard After Day One of HYPs

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Princeton University women's swimming and diving team find themselves in second place after the first day of competition at HYPs. Yale leads Princeton by a score of 95-55, the Bulldogs also ahead of Harvard 105-45. The Tigers have a 101-49 advantage over the Crimson.
The Tigers placed in the top three in six of nine events. Nikki Venema (1:47.19) touched first in the 200 freestyle, while Ellie Marquardt (9:56.17) secured first place in the 1000 freestyle. Emily Appleton (10:01.86) also competed in the 1000 free, taking third.
Alexa Pappas placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.39. Meanwhile, Jess Yeager took second in the 200 butterfly, going 1:57.83 and qualifying for a NCAA B cut.
In the 100 breaststroke Margaux McDonald (1:02.46) earned third place.
Finally, in the 200 medley relay, the team of Alexa Pappas, Vivian Wang, Nikki Venema and Christina Bradley (1:39.17) secured a second place finish.
Next up: The Tigers continue day two of HYPs today with diving at 9:30 and swimming at noon.
