Women's Volleyball Falls at Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team fell to Yale University, 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 25-15), Friday night inside the John J. Lee Amphitheatre.
The Tigers, winners of their 10 previous matches, were led in kills by senior Melina Mahood with five, and in assists by senior Lindsey Kelly with 21. Kelly also led the Tigers in blocks with three, while senior Cameron Dames had a team-high nine digs.
With help from an early 4-0 run, the Tigers jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the opening set. A kill by freshman Lucia Scalamandre helped Princeton maintain a four-point lead, 11-7, and a Bulldogs timeout followed. Shortly after, a 3-0 run by Yale tied it up at 15-15, then the Bulldogs used a 5-0 run to take a 21-18 lead. Yale would hold on, taking the first set, 25-21.
Yale got off to a strong start in the second set, using a 3-0 run to take a 6-4 lead. After taking a 12-10 lead, the Bulldogs used a 5-0 run to take a 17-10 advantage, before going on a 7-0 run to go up, 24-11. Yale would come out on top in the second set, 25-12.
The Bulldogs opened the third set on a 5-0 run, and took an 11-4 lead. Yale later went on a 4-0 run, jumping ahead 20-10, then prevailing in the third set 25-16, and the match 3-0.
