Notes To Know
- Princeton is even with its opponents in terms of scoring this season, with 13 goals for and 13 goals against. The Tigers are outshooting opponents, 154-85, though, and have a 72-37 edge in shots on goal.
- Ryan Clare leads Princeton in scoring with 9 points (4g, 1). He is looking to get back on the scoresheet after being held without a point over his last four games.
- Daniel Diaz Bonilla enters the week with 8 points (3g, 2a). He has goal in two of his last four matches and points in three of his last five.
- William Watson has started seven matches in goal and is 3-2-2 with two shutouts. He made five saves and allowed one goal last time out at Columbia. Two weeks ago, he had four saves against Yale with two of the three goals allowed coming via PKs.
- The all-time series with Virginia Tech is a brief one. The two teams have met just once -- a 3-2 win for the Tigers in Princeton in 2019. After taking an early 1-0 lead, Princeton fell behind and needed to rally to secure the win. Walker Gillespie netted the equalizer in the 68th minute, and Danny Hampton banged home a PK in the 80th to secure the win. Jack Roberts made nine saves in the win, including eight in the second half.
- Princeton is 4-10-1 all-time against ACC schools, with the bulk of that record coming against Virginia (1-6-0).
- The Hokies are 2-10-1 this season and 0-6-0 inside the ACC. Over their last six matches, Virginia Tech is 1-5-0
- Danny Flores leads the Hokies in scoring with 10 points (4g, 2a). Conor Pugh has three goals.
- Ben Martino has started 12 matches in goal, posting a 1.71 GAA and a .643 save percentage.
- The Tigers are 55-37-14 all-time against Cornell, and are 25-11-5 in Princeton.
- Princeton is 4-0-1 in its last five outings against the Big Red and 2-0-1 in the last three meetings in New Jersey.
- Last year, Walker Gillespie (27th minute) and Daniel Diaz Bonilla (55th minute) had goals in a 2-1 win at Sherrerd Field in Princeton. A red card issued to Cornell in the 27th minute saw the final 60+ minutes played with Princeton a man-up, and the Tigers had to hold on after a Cornell goal in the 88th minute -- including a Jack Roberts save in the final seconds.
- The Big Red are 9-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in Ivy play. They host Binghamton on Tuesday night after dropping a 3-2 match to Penn on October 15 -- a Quakers goal in the 89th minute the deciding factor.
- Cornell has now lost two in a row entering the week after rattling off six consecutive wins -- including a 2-1 win over then-No. 7 Syracuse.
- The Big Red are outscoring opponents. 26-12 this season.
- Brandon Morales leads the Big Red in scoring with 15 points (6g, 3a). Emeka Eneli (3g, 5a), Connor Drought (2g, 6a) and Alioune Ka (4g, 2a) also have 10+ poimts for the Big Red.
- Ryan Friedburg has started 12 matches in net, posting a 1.01 GAA and a .684 save percentage with 3.5 shutouts.
