Women's Volleyball Dispatches Dartmouth, 3-0, for Season Sweep

PRINCETON, N.J. – It was a happy Homecoming Weekend for the Princeton University women's volleyball team, as the Tigers completed the weekend sweep along with the season sweep of Dartmouth Saturday evening inside Dillon Gymnasium, taking down the Big Green 3-0 (25-22, 28-26, 25-12).
Seniors Avery Luoma and Melina Mahood tied for the match-high in kills with 12, and senior Lindsey Kelly handed out a match-high 45 assists. Junior Maya Satchell and freshman Ella Bunde each had one service ace, while freshman Lucia Scalamandre's four blocks were also a match-high. Senior Cameron Dames' 18 digs also led the match.
The match also saw Dames reach 1,457 career digs, moving up to No. 4 all-time in school history. She surpassed Head Coach Sabrina King, who tallied 1,440 digs during her career at Princeton.
The first set began as a back-and-forth battle, until a kill by Haislip sparked a 3-0 run, giving the Tigers a 9-7 lead. A 3-0 run by the Big Green would later see Dartmouth tie the score at 16-16, then surge ahead, 19-18. A Scalamandre kill ignited a 5-0 Princeton that gave the Tigers a 23-19 lead, and the Tigers would go on to take the first set, 25-22.
A kill by Scalamandre sparked a 4-0 run early in the second set, putting the Tigers ahead 5-1. Dartmouth battled back, using a 8-0 run to take a 14-8 lead. The Tigers showed their resilience, responding with a 4-0 that tied the score at 15-15 following a solo block by Scalamandre. With Dartmouth up 20-19, a kill by senior Elena Montgomery led off a 3-0 run that the Tigers back in front, 22-20. While the Big Green managed to draw the set out, the Tigers outlasted them 28-26 and went up 2-0 in the match.
While holding a 6-5 lead in the third set, the Tigers used an 8-0 run surge ahead, 14-5, after a kill by Mahood. A Montgomery kill extended Princeton's lead to double-digits at 18-8, and it was Mahood who would finish off the Big Green with back-to-back kills, as the Tigers took the third set 25-12, and the match 3-0.
