Succesful Play Continues for Men's Tennis at ITA Regional Championships

PHILADELPHIA – The Princeton University men's tennis team had a successful second day at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championship Saturday at the Hamlin Tennis Center Saturday, advancing six to the round 32 in singles, along with three doubles teams to the round of 16.
Playing in the round of 64, Filippos Astreinidis overcome Tai Goodman of the University of Pennsylvania, 6-3, 6-2, and Will Peters took down Buffalo's Thodoris Mitsakos, 6-3, 6-1. Ben Smith earned a 6-4, 6-3 win over St. Francis Brooklyn's Diego Garcia, while Alan Kam knocked off Penn's Baylor Sai, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. Both Tiger freshman were also victorious, with Sebastian Sec defeating Habib Stamobouli of Penn, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-2, and Ellis Short prevailing 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 over Kael Shah Fr of Drexel.
In doubles, the team of Kam and Peters triumphed 8-2 over Roger Rogwoski and Ryota Kaneda of St. John's, and Astreinidis and Bosancic dispatched Manuel Alonso and Jorge Sedeño Nieto of Niagara, 8-0. Additionally, Sec and Short upended St. Francis Brooklyn's Assil Boussary and Habib Stambouli, 8-6.
