PRINCETON, N.J. – The 2022 Ivy League Champion Princeton University women's volleyball team will enter the Ivy League Tournament as the No. 2 seed, taking on No. 3 seed Brown in the semifinals Friday inside the John J. Lee Amphitheatre.
Automatic Bid
The winner of the Ivy League Tournament will get an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The selection show will be at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, on ESPN2.
A Championship Tradition
Thanks to its 13-1 record in conference play, the Tigers shared the Ivy League title with Yale and brought the program's total number of league championships to 19. Head Coach Sabrina King brought her tally of Ivy League championships to five, also winning in 2019, 2017, 2016 and 2015.
In the Rankings
Princeton leads the nation in assists per set (13.74), ranks second in kills (14.67), 15th in hitting percentage (.281) and 46th in digs (15.94). Senior Lindsey Kelly is currently the national leader in assists (12.05), while Dames ranks 21st in digs (5.01) and Scalamandre 32nd in blocks (1.29).
At the conference level, Princeton leads the Ivy League in points (18.13) and digs (15.95). Individually, senior Melina Mahood leads the league in kills (3.66) and ranks second in points (3.91), Scalamandre tops the conference in blocks and Dames in digs.
Scalalamandre also ranks second in hitting percentage (.383) and sophomore Mariah Haislip third (.376), while senior Avery Luoma ranks third in kills (3.44).
In the Record Book
With 1,546 digs in her career, Dames ranks No. 4 all-time in school history in total digs. Earlier this season, she passed Head Coach Sabrina King on the all-time digs list, who ended her career with 1,441 digs. Her 421 digs in the 2022 season also rank No. 10 all-time at Princeton for most digs in a season. Should she tally 27 more kills, she would surpass Sarah Daschbach's tally of 447 kills from the 2014 season, and move up to No. 9 all-time.
Scalamandre has 102 blocks in 2022, which ranks No. 3 all-time for most blocks in a season in school history. She needs just five blocks to pass Abby Studer, whose 106 blocks in 2001 ranks No. 2 all-time, while the school record belongs to Emily Brown, who tallied 126 blocks in 2000.
The Opponents
The Tigers opponents in the semifinals, Brown, were the 2021 Ivy League Champions and finished the season with a 14-9 record and a 10-4 record in Ivy play. The Tigers earned the season sweep over the Bears, first winning 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 19-25, 25-20) in Providence, Rhode Island, on Saturday, October 15, before outlasting the Bears 3-2 (19-25, 25-22, 25-15, 21-25, 18-16) at home Friday, November 4.

The Tigers first fell at Yale, 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 25-16), on Friday, October 14, before earning a 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 21-25, 25-23) victory on Saturday, November 5, inside Dillon Gymnasium.
No. 4 seed Dartmouth had a 16-8 overall record, and an 8-6 record in Ivy League play. The Tigers first defeated the Big Green, 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 26-24) in Hanover, New Hampshire, on Friday, September 30, then earned a 3-0 (25-22, 28-26, 25-12) win inside Dillon Gymnasium on Saturday, October 29.
