Men's Hockey Denied At No. 5 Quinnipiac, 4-1
November 19, 2022 | Men's Ice Hockey
Nick Seitz scored in the third period for Princeton at No. 5 Quinnipiac to pul the Tigers within two goals, but a late empty-netter from the Bobcats stymied any chance of a rally on a 4-1 loss for the Tigers at M&T Bank Arena.
Seitz broke free from a scrum along the boards with 2:23 remaining in the third period for his second goal of the season, an unassisted extra-man goal to cut the deficit to 3-1. A Michael Lombardi empty-netter 0:43 later ended the comeback and provided the final score.
Seitz finished with seven shots on goal in the game, providing the bulk of Princeton's 32 shots on goal as the Tigers outshot the Bobcats, 32-29, to once again send more shots on goal than Quinnipiac.
Ethan Pearson made 25 saves for the Tigers.
Jayden Lee struck first for Quinnipiac in the first period, capitalizing on a long-range shot from the point on the power play to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
Jacob Quillian doubled Quinnipiac's lead in the second period, scoring just after the Bobcats had killed off a Princeton power play, finishing a 2-on-1 with TJ Friedmann.
Jake Johnson tacked on a third Quinnipiac goal before the end of the second period with a shot from the point assisted by Michael Lombardi and Collin Graf.
The Tigers are on the road twice over the Thanksgiving holiday, taking on RIT on November 25 (7 p.m.) and November 26 (5 p.m.)
