Weintraub Wins Silver with Team USA at World Cup in Serbia

Princeton sophomore Maia Weintraub, the reigning NCAA women's foil individual champion, won a team silver medal at the Senior Women's Foil World Cup that wrapped Sunday in Belgrade, Serbia.
The U.S. defeated Great Britain 45-19 in the round of 16, with Weintraub getting the final five touches among the 12 she had in the match. Then came a 36-29 win over China in the quarterfinals, and Weintraub accounted for seven touches in that bout. In the semis, the U.S. defeated Japan 45-22, with Weintraub accounting for 13 touches, and in the final against Italy, Weintraub's two bouts resulted in seven touches as the Italians won 45-22.

Weintraub and the Tigers will resume the collegiate season Jan. 22 at the Penn Invitational.
