Princeton Men's Water Polo Falls to No. 1 USC in NCAA Quarterfinal

Berkeley, CA - The Princeton Men's Water Polo team concluded the 2022 season with a 11-8 loss to No. 1 University of Southern California in the NCAA Quarterfinal, finishing with a record of 27-6.
The Tigers' 27 wins this season are the most in program history while this season marked the first time they've reached the NCAA Quarterfinals in consecutive years.
Keller Maloney led the team in goals against USC with a hat-trick. Four other Tigers contributed to scoring against the Trojans including Luke Johnston, Vladan Mitrovic, Joan Coloma, and Roko Pozaric.
Princeton led 3-2 after eight minutes as a goal from Mitrovic put the Tigers in front. The second quarter was a close affair as neither team led by more than a goal with USC's Marcus Johnston giving the Trojans a 6-5 advantage at the break. USC stretched its lead to three, holding a 9-6 lead as the fourth frame began. The Trojans put the game away with the first two tallies of the quarter.
The team's historical season included highlights such as defeating Stanford for the first time in program history, becoming NWPC Conference Champions and beating Fordham in the NCAA Opening Round.
The Tigers were led by a strong group of leaders this season including the teams' seniors: Antonio Knez, Keller Maloney, Ryan Neapole, Nick Hovsmith, Yurian Quinones, Harry Foster, Joan Coloma, and Harry Moross.
