
Women's Swimming & Diving Remains In First After Day Two Of Big Al Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's swimming & diving team continued its impressive showing on day two of the Big Al Invitational, as it maintained first-place with 791.50 points.
The night began with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay for Alexa Pappas, Eliza Brown, Nikki Venema and Sabrina Johnston after they finished with a time of 1:38.96. The quartet of Isabella Korbly, Margaux McDonald, Heidi Smithwick and Ela Noble also finished fourth in 1:41.31.
The Tigers had three make it through to the A final of the 100 butterfly, with Heidi Smithwick finishing first (54.01), Pappas fifth (55.18) and Korbly eighth (56.25). Jaime Chen also finished 11th in 55.89.
Meg Wheeler took second in the 400 IM after she touched the wall at 4:17.80, and Emily Appleton sixth after she clocked in at 4:21.99.
Princeton had three make it through to the A final of the 200 freestyle, as Caroline Lewitt finished sixth in 1:49.50, Megan Reich seventh in 1:50.12 and Amelia Liu eighth in 1:52.32. Smithwick also took ninth in 1:50.42 and Nathalie Valdman 14th in 1:51.26.
In the 100 breaststroke, McDonald touched the wall at 1:02.16 and Eliza Brown 1:02.93 to finish seventh.
Venema and Korbly tied for fourth in the 100 backstroke, each finishing in a time of 54.55, while Johnston finished eighth in 55.81.
With a score of 308.90 in the 1-meter diving, Charlotte Martinkus earned a first-place finish while Maddie Seltzer finishing fourth, earning a score of 256.35. Julia Fidanza also finished seventh (247.05).
The night ended for Princeton with a victory in the 800 freestyle relay after Venema, Lewitt, Smithwick and Liu clocked in at 7:17.69. The team of Appleton, Reich, Wheeler and Valdman finished fourth in 7:23.59.
