Women’s Tennis Blanks Cornell in First Round of ECAC Championships

ITHACA N.Y. – The Princeton University women's tennis team dispatched Cornell 4-0 in the first round of the ECAC Championships, Friday morning inside the Reis Tennis Center.
In doubles, the duo of Zoe Howard and Neha Velaga bested Cornell's Alexandra Savu / Jenny Wong 6-2, while the pairing of Maia Sung and Grace Joyce downed the Big Red's Valerie Ho and Fatima El Ashram by a score of 6-2.
Playing in the No. 3 position, Neha Velaga trounced Maria Adiaconitei 6-1, 6-0 to put the Tigers on the board. Stephanie Schrage followed suit in the No. 4 position, dropping Jenny Wong by a score of 6-0, 6-2. Finally, in the No. 6 spot, Maia Sung closed out Alexandra Savu 6-3, 6-2.
