CANTON, N.Y. – Princeton secured three more points in the ECAC standings with a 3-2 win at St. Lawrence to close out a weekend trip to the North Country.
With the win, Princeton improves to 5-3-1 over its last nine games. The Tigers are now 7-8-1 in the ECAC, sitting on 23 points which has Princeton in seventh place.
Eight different skaters had a point for Princeton, with goals coming from Ian Murphy, Jack Cronin and Matt Kellenberger.
Jeremie Forget made 22 saves in 57:19 of work before having to leave the game with an injury. Aidan Porter came on and made two saves in the final minutes, including a crucial stop with 2.0 seconds remaining in the game.
Ian Murphy opened the scoring for Princeton 12:55 into the game with his eighth goal of the season. David Ma did serious work along the boards, slipping by a defender and threading a pass back to the low slot where Murphy quickly went under the bar for a 1-0 Princeton lead.
The Saints tied the game with 3:15 left in the first period, Reilly Moran snapping home a shot right off a faceoff to send the game to the first intermission locked up, 1-1.
Princeton scored twice early in the second period to build a 3-1 which eventually became a 3-2 advantage after 40:00.
Jack Cronin scored his first career goal 1:40 into the middle frame, following up his original shot and banking the rebound off Zetterquist and in with assist to Christian O'Neill.
Matt Kellenbeger made it 3-1 Tigers just 3:10 later, finishing a swarming Princeton rush where all five Tigers had a touch. Adam Robbins and Nick Seitz had the assists, with Seitz making the final drop pass to Kellenberger who quickly fired over Zetterquist's glove.
St. Lawrence climbed within one just one second after Princeton had killed off a 5-on-3 power play for the Saints. Max Dorrington redirected a Ty Naaykens centering pass and the puck found its way in.
