Men's Hockey Falls In Regular Season FInale To Harvard
February 27, 2022 | Men's Ice Hockey
PRINCETON – Harvard scored once in each period to knock off Princeton at Hobey Baker Rink in the regular season finale for both teams.
With the loss, Princeton finishes in 10th place in the ECAC regular season standings and will head to No. 7 Union for a Best-Of-Three series starting March 4.
Jack Donato scored first for Harvard, snapping home a shot from the slot 8:17 into the first period.
The Tigers played with fire in the second period, giving Harvard a 5-on-3 power play which Princeton ultimately killed off thanks to a scrambling save from Aidan Porter.
However, the Crimson finally connected on their fourth power play of the game via an Alex Laferriere goal with 2:04 to play in the middle frame.
Princeton thought they had climbed within one early in the third period when a Christian O'Neill shot appeared to go under the crossbar and out. The play was originally called a goal on the ice, but after video review was found to have clanged off the bar and out without crossing the line.
The Crimson would go on to add an empty-netter with 2:41 remaining off the stick of Marshall Rifai.
Aidan Porter finished with 30 saves for the Tigers.
