Seven Points From Sears Sends #12 Women's Lacrosse Past Harvard

CAMBRIDGE – The fourth was the best for No. 12 Princeton as the Tigers remained unbeaten in the Ivy League on the strength of a dominant fourth quarter which saw Princeton turn a one-goal deficit into a five-goal lead on its way to a 14-9 victory over Harvard at Jordan Field.
With the win, Princeton remains unbeaten in the Ivy League (5-0) and improves to 10-3 overall. The Tigers also ensured that they will finish no lower than second in the Ivy League this season and will be the higher seed in their Ivy League Tournament game when the postseason begins in May.
Kyla Sears finished with seven points, scoring four goals and adding three assists. Her third helper of the game on Samantha DeVito's goal with 9:04 remaining in the fourth quarter was the 91st assist of Sears' career, tying her for No. 1 all-time in assists by a Princeton player with Erin McMunn '15.

The Tigers had to rally in the first quarter after the Crimson built a 2-1 lead off two Grace Hulslander goals, but a pair of Tigers goals in a span of 1:34 gave Princeton a 3-2 lead after the first period. Grace Tauckus tied the game at 2-2 after caused turnover and assist from Samantha DeVito. Moments later, DeVito netted a goal of her own with a free position strike just before the midway mark of the opening period.
In the second quarter, Kate Mulham gave the Tigers a two-goal lead off a pretty pass from Kyla Sears 0:49 into the period. The Crimson would counter 0:50 later with a goal from Amanda Sudnik. Hulslander would tie the game with 2:29 left in the half, connecting on a free position to make it 5-5 which is how the half ended.
Princeton took a lead early in the third quarter, but the Crimson scored the next two and regained the lead via a Maddie Barkate extra-woman goal with 9:41 left in the period.
Kyla Sears would answer for the Tigers, but a second goal from Barkate with 1:00 left in the third sent the Crimson to the fourth quarter with a one-goal lead.
Princeton regrouped and responded in the final frame, putting together a six-goal run to turn a one-goal deficit into a five-goal lead. Sears and Mulham each had two goals in the run, the Tigers holding Harvard off the scoreboard for 13:28 while building a commanding lead.
The Tigers head to the Big Apple on Wednesday, taking on Columbia at Kraft Field at 4 p.m.
