Baseball Closes Out Non-Conference Schedule with Visit from Monmouth
May 03, 2022 | Baseball
Princeton, N.J.— Princeton welcomes Monmouth to Clarke Field for the season's final non-conference game on Wednesday, May 4 at 3 p.m.
The Tigers enter the game at 6-30 after dropping three close games to Brown last weekend.
In that series against the Bears, Matt Scannell extended his team-leading RBI tally to 39 after driving in six total runs. His 38 hits are good for third-best on the team. Leading the team in hitting is Brendan Cumming, who currently ranks fourth in the Ivy League with a .376 batting average. His 62 hits are the second-most among Ancient-Eight hitters.
Princeton will have plenty of its bullpen arms available for Wednesday's meeting with Monmouth after each of its weekend starters pitched at least six innings against Brown. Max Zdimal got the start against NJIT last Wednesday and struck out six batters with no walks in three innings of work. Jason Ramirez also pitched three frames against the Highlanders and struck out five batters with no walks. Eric Hoefer and Caden Shapiro also made appearances and each tossed a scoreless inning.
Monmouth rolls into Wednesday's game with an even, 20-20 record after winning its series against Rider on the weekend. The midweek game marks the 40th meeting between the Tigers and the Hawks, with Monmouth holding a 21-18 all-time series edge.
Wednesday's game, as well as all Princeton home games and Ivy League matchups, can be streamed with a subscription to ESPN+. The game can also be followed via live stats or at @PUTigerBaseball on Twitter and Instagram.
