Princeton Women's Rowing Teams Having Great Start To World Rowing Championships

VARESE, Italy – The Princeton women rowing teams will have four rowers racing for a gold medal following the start of the U19 and U23 World Rowing Championships.
"We couldn't be more excited for our rowers at the World Rowing Championships, said Princeton head coach Lori Dauphiny. "To have so many Princeton athlete in Italy is a testmant to the great work that everyone at Princeton puts in!"
Camille Vandermeer and the United States U-23 8+ had a dominating seven-second victory (6:07.80) in its heat to secure a spot in the A Final on July 30th. Joining Vandermeer in the race for gold will be Katharine Kalap and Zoe Scheske of Great Britain, who won its heat (6:08.72).
Cecilia Sommerfeld (Germany U23 LW 2-) of the Princeton women's lightweight team had the second-best time (7:36.45) in her event and races for a medal on Friday.
Katherine George (Great Britain 2x) won her race with Vwaire Obukohwo (7:02.98), earning an opportunity in the A/B Semifinals (July 28th).
Phaedra van der Molen '26 (Netherlands U-23 LW 1X) was second in the third heat (7:41.70) and will race in the A/B Semifinals on Thursday.
Greta Jaanson (Estonia U23 1X) Was third in her heat (8:04.23) and fifth in the repechage (8:16.53) and will go in the C/D Semifinals on July 28th. Also, in the C/D Semifinals is Ella Barry (United States) who posted a time of 8:06.33 in her heat and was third in her repechage.
Annalisa Janss Lanfond '26 (Great Britain U19 8+) will row on July 28th while Anna Menke '26 (Netherlands U19 2x) will go tomorrow.
