Men's Soccer Finishes Final Home Match in a 2-2 Draw Against Fordham
October 24, 2023 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton men's soccer team (4-6-3) tied the Fordham Rams 2-2 tonight at Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium. Daniel Ittycheria tallied his ninth goal of the season and Walker Gillespie scored his second of the season.
How It Happened
Princeton got started with three corner kicks in a row within the first six minutes of the first half. None resulted in a scoring opportunity. Â
Gabriel Duchovny's foul on the defensive end of the pitch in the 10th minute provided Fordham with an opportunity for a free kick. Sigfus Arnason took advantage of this chance and netted a goal from 20 yards out, putting the Rams in front for the first time in the game.
In less than two minutes, the Tigers initiated a swift breakaway situation. Logan Oyama, maneuvering past two Ram defenders after receiving the ball from Bardia Hormozi, located Daniel Ittycheria, who capitalized on his own rebounded shot right at the Rams' goal. Ittycheria's 12th-minute goal represented the sophomore's ninth of the season.

Following numerous exchanges, a foul committed by Walker Gillespie led to the Tigers being granted a free kick. Jack Jasinki then attempted a top-left goal shot, but Carter Abbott of Fordham made a diving save to maintain the score level.
The Tiger's took the final minutes of the first half to attack Fordham's net multiple times but couldn't find any success. The score at half was tied at one.
After halftime, the Tigers maintained control of the ball in the attacking zone, making two goal attempts before Walker Gillespie's header was stopped by Fordham's goalkeeper.
Later into the second half, the Tigers faced pressure as Fordham's offense fired five shots on goal within a mere two minutes, with each attempt thwarted by Tiger defenders, keeping the score tied at one. However, in the 74th minute, Walker Gillespie seized a pivotal moment, netting his second goal of the year off of a perfectly placed ball from Jack Jasinski, giving the Tigers their first lead of the match.
