No. 6 Men's Water Polo To Open NCAA Tournament Vs. No. 8 UC Irvine

PRINCETON – The No. 6 Princeton Men's Water Polo Team will take on the No. 8 UC Irvine Anteaters in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Dec. 1 at 5 p.m.
The Tigers collected their third straight NWPC Championship with an 8-5 decision over the No. 11 Harvard Crimson on Sunday. Roko Pozaric secured five goals in the victory.
Princeton became the first Collegiate Water Polo Association team to win its third straight conference title since Navy from 2006-08. It's the eighth conference crown in program history and ninth NCAA Tournament appearance.
The Tigers and Anteaters have faced off once this season with head coach Dustin Litvak's crew earning an 11-9 victory on Oct. 15. George Caras put up a hat trick in the contest.
While the championship is normally a nine-team, single elimination tournament, with seven conference bids and two at-large selections, the Southern California Athletic Conference declined its automatic qualification for 2023. Thus, the 2023 championship will be comprised of eight teams that qualify directly, instead of having an opening round game to determine the final championship berth.
The seeding for the NCAA Tournament is No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 California, No. 3 USC, No. 4 Princeton, No. 5 UC Irvine, No. 6 San Jose State, No. 7 Fordham, and No. 8 Biola.
The winner of Princeton and UC Irvine will take on the winner of the No. 1 UCLA and Biola on Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. The NCAA Championship is on Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. on ESPNU.
