Men's Ice Hockey Takes Shootout Win at #15/19 Harvard
November 03, 2023 | Men's Ice Hockey
A back and forth contest went all the way to a shootout before Princeton secured an extra point in the ECAC standings at #15/19 Harvard. The game went through regulation and overtime tied, 4-4, before Princeton scored twice in the shootout to just one goal from the Crimson.
Â
The Tigers got goals from all four classes, with Joshua Karnish (first career goal), Brendan Gorman, Jack Cronin and Nick Seitz scoring.
Â
Adam Robbins and Noah de la Durantaye had the goals in the shootout to help the Tigers secure their first points in Cambridge since a 2-1 (OT) win on 3/2/13.
Â
Just over 90 seconds later, the Crimson connected for a power-play goal and a 2-1 lead when Joe Miller gathered up a loose puck after fanning on a cross-ice pass and scored from the top of the circle.
Â
The Tigers sent the game to the first intermission tied, 2-2, after a PPG of its own in the final minute of the period. Following a faceoff win by Adam Robbins, Nick Carabin sent a shot in from the point which caused some chaos at the goalmouth. Robbins pushed a loose puck towards goal, and Nick Seitz quickly funneled it under Koskenvuo's pads for his first of the season.
Â
Neither team connected in the second period, but the Tigers pounced quickly in the third period to take a 3-2 lead. David Jacobs carried the puck from his own end into the Harvard zone on a 2-on-1, drawing a Crimson defender to him before threading a pass to Brendan Gorman who flipped home his first of the season under the crossbar 1:01 into the third period.
Â
The Tigers head to Dartmouth to finish up the first weekend of the season, taking on the Big Green November 4 at 7 p.m.

That goal seemed to light both offenses up a bit. Marek Hejduk scored for Harvard to tie the game at 3-3 just before seven minutes had gone by in the third. Less than a minute later, Jack Cronin deflected home a Brendan Wang shot to give Princeton a 4-3 lead – a lead which lasted 0:25 before Joe Miller tied the game at 4-4.BG = Big Goals
