Women’s Swimming & Diving Opens Ivy Championships With Two Relay Wins

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's swimming & diving team opened the Ivy League Championships on a high note Wednesday night inside DeNunzio Pool, winning both relays, shattering multiple records and sitting first place.
The Tigers' 128 points has them first, 20 points clear of Harvard who is in second with 108 points. Yale is third with 106 points.
The team of Alexa Pappas, Margaux McDonald, Nikki Venema and Sabrina Johnston opened the night with the 200 medley relay finished with an Ivy, school and pool record time of 1:36.89, earning a first-place finish along with an NCAA B cut. The previous Ivy record of 1:37.30 was set in 2018 by Yale, the previous pool record of 1:38.24 was set in 2019 by Yale, and the previous school record of 1:37.86 was set in 2020 by Gianna Garcia '20, Christie Chong '20, Elaine Zhou '20 and Venema.
In the 800 freestyle relay, the quartet of Venema, Johnston, Caroline Lewitt and Ellie Marquardt finished in 7:05.85, which was a new DeNunzio Pool record and an NCAA B cut. The previous pool record of 7:06.98 was set in 2019 by Harvard.
