Women's Swimming & Diving Has Dominant Second Day at the Ivy League Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. – Four more event titles were added on the second night of the Ivy League Championships at DeNunzio Pool Thursday night, as the Princeton University women's swimming & diving team remains in first place by over 100 points.
With 573 points, the Tigers sit in first while Harvard is second with 422 points, and Yale third with 419. Princeton won event championships in the 200 freestyle relay, 50 freestyle, 1-meter diving and the 200 IM, and have now won six out of the seven events contested.
200 Freestyle Relay
Princeton made it 3-for-3 relay wins in the 200 freestyle relay. The quartet of Nikki Venema, Sabrina Johnston, Amelia Liu and Ela Noble posted a time of 1:29.22, setting new Ivy League, school and pool records. The previous Ivy record of 1:29.66 was set in 2022 by Yale, while the previous pool record of 1:29.767 was also set by Yale in 2022. The previous school record of 1:29.76 was set in 2020 by Venema, Sarah Grinalds '20, Liu and Christina Bradley.
50 Freestyle
The 50 freestyle was a stellar event for the Tigers, with five of the eight competitors in the A final being from Princeton. Venema won the second 50 freestyle title of her career, touching the wall at an NCAA B cut time of 22.23, also the second-fastest time in school history. Liu took second in 22.41, also an NCAA B cut and the No. 4 time on the Tigers' all-time list, while Noble also earned an NCAA B cut, finishing fourth in 22.45, the fifth-fastest time in program history. With an NCAA B cut time and the sixth-fastest time in school history of 22.54, Johnston finished fifth, and Heidi Smithwick took eighth in 22.87.
200 IM
The top-two spots on the podium went to the Tigers in the 200 IM, with Eliza Brown finishing first after clocking in at 1:58.68, an NCAA B cut and the third-fastest time in program history. Margaux McDonald finished second in 1:59.32, the fifth-fastest time in school history and an NCAA B cut. Meg Wheeler also earned an NCAA B cut, finishing fifth with a time of 1:59.45 and moved up to No. 6 on Princeton's all-time list.
Liza Whitmire swam in the B final, finishing eighth with a time of 2:13.46.
1-Meter Diving
Competing at her first Ivy League Championships, Charlotte Martinkus earned a first-place finish on the 1-meter board with a score of 302.70. Francesca Noviello competed in the B final, and finished fifth with a score of 229.55, while Maddie Seltzer finished seventh with a score of 224.35.
500 Freestyle
Emily Appleton earned a fourth-place finish, finishing in 4:45.65, the fifth-fastest time in school history and an NCAA B cut. Ellie Marquardt came in seventh, touching the wall at 4:47.91.
In the B final, Megan Reich took second with a time of 4:50.51, while Caroline Lewitt's time of 4:52.49 saw her finish fourth. Nathalie Valdman came in sixth after finishing in 4:53.69
