Glory, Monday Advance to Round of 16 in Thursday's First Session at NCAAs

Princeton's four wrestlers at the NCAA Championships got their competition going in Thursday's daytime session, with Patrick Glory (125) and Quincy Monday (165) advancing to the round of 16. Luke Stout (197) and Travis Stefanik (285) will compete in the consolation bracket Thursday night.

Patrick Glory • 125
R32: (2) Patrick Glory (Princeton) wins by fall over (31) Reece Witcraft (Oklahoma State), 0:32
Glory made it quick in the first round, scoring a takedown 30 seconds in and following that through to a pin as he moved on to Thursday night's round of 16 against Cornell's 15th-seeded Brett Ungar, whom Glory defeated earlier this season in the teams' dual match and in the EIWA final.
Quincy Monday • 165
R32: (5) Quincy Monday (Princeton) wins by major decision over (28) Andrew Sparks (Minnesota), 12-4
Monday had a takedown off the start, one of three in the first period and five on the match, on the way to the major-decision win and a ticket to Thursday night's round of 16 against Northern Illinois' 12th-seeded Izzak Olejnik.
Luke Stout • 197
R32: (10) Jacob Cardenas (Cornell) wins by decision over (23) Luke Stout (Princeton), 3-1
Cardenas had a takedown late in the first period and led the rest of the way, adding an escape in the second before Stout had an escape in the third. Stout will take on Ohio State's 26th-seeded Gavin Hoffman in a consolation match tonight.
Travis Stefanik • 285
Prelim: (32) Garrett Joles (Minnesota) wins by decision over (33) Travis Stefanik (Princeton), 4-1
Each wrestler had an escape during the match, but Joles sealed the win with a third-period takedown and the riding-time point. Stefanik will wrestle Thursday night in a consolation match against Purdue's 30th-seeded Hayden Copass.
Nate Dugan was the first alternate at 184, but all 33 qualifiers were able to begin competition.
