Princeton, N.J. – Following back-to-back victories for the Tigers last weekend in Fairfax, Virginia the Princeton men's volleyball team will return home to Dillon Gymnasium to take on EIVA opponent George Mason for another conference match on Saturday April 1st at 5:00 p.m.
The Tigers are already well acquainted with George Mason after having defeated the Patriots 3-1 last weekend, adding another conference win to their record.
Princeton also executed a thrilling upset victory against No. 9 Loyola-Chicago the following day to achieve the team's first win of the season over a ranked opponent.
Junior, Ben Harrington earned his fourth EIVA Offensive Player of the Week honor for the 2023 season following his performance against the Patriots and Ramblers.
For the weekend, he totaled 30 kills on .290 hitting with eight aces, 12 digs and two blocks. He also helped the Tiger offense with five assists.
Harrington currently leads the EIVA conference with per-set averages in kills (3.57), aces (0.73) and points (4.48). He also ranks third nationally in aces per set and 12th in points per set.
Harrington is not the only offensive weapon upon the Tigers' roster. Princeton displayed the depth of their bench against the top ranked Ramblers when first-year student Owen Mellon delivered some big plays for the Tigers.
In Saturday's match Mellon executed a season high ten kills on .368% hitting to help Princeton take the victory and help out his team was he stepped onto the court.
The Tigers will face the Patriots on Saturday at 5:00 pm and Princeton will also be celebrating Pride night during this weekend's home match.
"Princeton Volleyball is excited to celebrate our Pride night this Saturday night with our match against George Mason and support the LGBTQ+ community within the sport of volleyball and more broadly for the community at large" commented Head Coach Sam Shweisky, "Kindness, love, and respect for all people no matter of their different affiliations is a core value of our program and we are grateful to be able to amplify this message on a broader scale. George Mason as a great partner will be warming up along with us in Pride shirts and we have many exiting celebratory decorations to make it a festive atmosphere here in Dillon Gym. We are looking forward to a great event!"
