Stefanik Earns NCAA Championships At-Large Bid
March 07, 2023 | Wrestling
Travis Stefanik will end his Princeton wrestling career as a four-time NCAA Championships qualifier.
The heavyweight earned that fourth bid when the NCAA announced its slate of at-large bid earners Tuesday afternoon for the NCAA Championships, set for March 16-18 in Tulsa, Okla.
Stefanik's inclusion brings Princeton's contingent to four wrestlers at the NCAAs, along with EIWA Championships automatic qualifiers Patrick Glory (125), Quincy Monday (165) and Luke Stout (197).
Stefanik has qualified for the NCAAs at three different weights, doing so as a freshman at 174, as a sophomore and a junior at 184, and now as a senior at heavyweight. After the 2020 NCAAs were canceled due to the pandemic, Stefanik earned his first NCAA Championships win in 2022, defeating Indiana's Donnell Washington in a consolation matchup.
This season, Stefanik, ranked No. 33 in the Feb. 23 NCAA Coaches panel ranking, has a 16-12 record. The seventh seed at last weekend's EIWA Championships, Stefanik made the quarterfinals before running into eventual conference champion Grady Greiss of Navy.
