For the first time in the decade-plus that the awards have been given, both the Ivy League Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards will go to Princetonians.
The Ivy League announced Thursday that sophomore Victoria Liu was a unanimous choice for Ivy League Player of the Year honors while freshman Catherine Rao is the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Rao's runner-up finish at the Ivy League Championships earned her first-team All-Ivy League honors.
Liu is the fourth Tiger to earn Ivy League Player of the Year honors since the award was inaugurated in 2009, joining Susannah Aboff '09 (2009), Kelly Shon '14 (2013, 2014) and Maya Walton '20 (2018).Â

Liu, a computer science major and a first-team All-Ivy Leaguer last season, was announced Wednesday as an at-large selection to the NCAA Regional tournament to be held at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., May 8-10. Liu won three tournaments between the fall and spring, taking medalist honors at the Princeton Invitational, the Columbia Classic and the UNCW River Landing Classic, among her five top-10 finishes while carrying a 72.47 stroke average on the year overall.Â
Rao's runner-up finish at the Ivy League Championships was her third top-two finish in the last three tournaments, sharing medalist honors with Liu at the Columbia Classic before tying for runner-up at the Harvard Invitational and then finishing second at the Ivy tournament. Rao had a stroke average of 74.60 between the fall and the spring.
Senior Tiffany Kong was selected as Princeton's Academic All-Ivy League honoree. An economics major, Kong has competed in seven tournaments between the fall and spring, earning a stroke average of 75.41 with a low round of 70 coming at the UNC Tar Heel Invitational last fall.
