Liu Posts Strong First Day at NCAA Regionals

Princeton sophomore Victoria Liu made birdie on three of her first eight holes Monday to open the NCAA Palm Beach Gardens Regional, finishing her first of three rounds at +1 and tied for 11th overall.
Liu is in pursuit of the lone individual bid to the NCAA Championships, which will go to the top player not on the five advancing teams. Through one round, those teams are Michigan State, South Florida, Arkansas, and two of Duke, LSU and Texas. The individual bid would go to Northwestern's Kelly Sim or Miami's Sara Byrine, who are tied for second overall at -2. Brooke Biermann of Michigan State leads in the chase for tournament medalist honors at -3.Â
The regional will continue with a round each day Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday's tee times will run from 8-9:50 a.m. with Liu teeing off at 8:55 a.m.
