VanderMeer Named CRCA Athlete of the Year Finalist
August 10, 2023 | Women's Rowing - Open
PRINCETON – Camille VanderMeer has been named a finalist for the Collegiate Rowing Coaches' Association Athlete of the Year.
"Camille is not only an amazing student- athlete, but she is also a teammate who inspires and motivates others," said Princeton head coach Lori Dauphiny. "She pushes and encourages her teammates by example by always putting in the work needed to compete at the highest level. She switched sides three times when asked, both on our team and the U23 national team, and was successful despite how difficult we know that is! She has shown great improvement, tenacity and determination throughout her four years at Princeton. We are incredibly grateful for her leadership as our team captain, her enthusiastic approach, her sense of humor, and her hard work."
VanderMeer was first-team All-American selection this year after being on the first varsity that finished third at the NCAA Rowing Championships behind Stanford and Washington. It was the third time ever that the boat has medaled at NCAAs in consecutive years (2009-10, 2005-06).
Princeton finished third in the NCAA team standings, trailing Stanford (129) and Washington (120). It was the second straight season the Tigers were third, marking the first time in program history that the Tigers finished top three in consecutive seasons. Head coach Lori Dauphiny's squad was the top Ivy school with Yale going fifth (110), Penn sixth (62) and Brown seventh (91).
