October 28, 2024 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. – After scoring the game-winner in Princeton's 1-0 victory over Yale on Saturday, Jack Jasinski was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. The award is Jasinski's first of his career.
On a free kick 10 yards outside the penalty box, Jasinski drilled the ball over Yale's defensive wall and down into the top right corner of the goal on Saturday in a stunning goal to put the Tigers up 1-0.
The goal was Jasinski's first of his career, and it helped the Tigers to an important fourth Ivy win of the season which secured them a spot in the 2024 Ivy League Championship following Saturday's contests.
A player that Princeton has consistently called on on both ends of the pitch, Jasinski has been a mainstay in the Tiger back line, starting and playing all 90 minutes of nearly every game this season.
He helped the Tigers go 2-0 last week with two shutouts, as the win over Yale succeeded a 1-0 victory at Fordham on Tuesday.
Jasinski has been a critical piece of the Princeton defense that has a goals-allowed average of 1.08, the third-best in the Ivy League.
Despite scoring his first goal this weekend, Jasinski leads the Tigers in assists this season with three, contributing to his 10 total during his time at Princeton. He was also named to the 2023 Second Team All-Ivy after tallying three assists and logging a team-high 1206 minutes last season.
Jasinski and the Tigers will be back in action tomorrow as they play Seton Hall at home in their non-conference finale. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Roberts Stadium.
