Men's Hockey Ties Brown, 1-1
November 16, 2024 | Men's Ice Hockey
A tight contest went the distance at Meehan Auditorium as Princeton and Brown tied, 1-1, before the Bears scored twice in the shootout to secure the extra point in the ECAC standings.
Â
David Ma had Princeton's goal, while Ethan Pearson made 29 saves during regulation and overtime combined.
Princeton was outshot in the game by a slim 30-27 margin, with Brown holding a 23-15 advantage in shots on goal after the first period.
The Tigers were 1-for-2 on the power play, and killed both Brown power plays. For the weekend, Princeton was 7-for-7 on the PK after a perfect 5-for-5 outing the previous night at Yale.
Â
David Ma opened the scoring with a power-play goal late in the first period, looping a wrist shot through traffic and into the top corner for his first goal since November 13, 2021 – a span of 1,099 days as he battled back from multiple injuries.
Â
Pearson was busy in the second as Brown dialed up the pressure, denying the 14 other Bears shots to reach goal in the middle period.
Â
Neither team was able to break through in overtime, with each team landing two shots on goal and a huge hit from David Jacobs denying a late Brown scoring chance to send the game to a shootout.
Â
The Tigers are back on the road next weekend, heading to Colgate (November 22) and Cornell (November 23).
