Sun Sets Pool Record As Women's Swimming & Diving Defends Cannon Trophy

PISCATAWAY, N.J.- The Tigers were ready to go at the Rutgers Aquatics Center for the fifth annual Battle for the Cannon Trophy. Although the meet started off close, Princeton pulled away for a 176-124 victory to keep the cannon trophy at DeNunzio Pool.
Eleanor Sun picked up wins in three events including the 200 IM. The sophomore out of Bethesda, Md. touched the wall with the time of 1:59.51 to set a new pool record in the event.
Princeton started the day off with a win in the 200 medley relay with the team of Isabella Korbly, Sun, Margaret Hayes and Nicole De Pree.
Jenna Walters went on to pick up the first individual event win of the meet in the 200 freestyle.
Heidi Smithwick and Eleanor Sun claimed the top two spots in the 200 butterfly. The Tigers followed that up with Ela Noble, Veronique Rossouw and Korbly going 1-2-3 in the 50 freestyle.
Princeton wasn't done after that as the team swept the top three times in the 100 freestyle thanks to Walters, Noble and De Pree.
Heidi Smithwick and Emily Appleton went 1-2 in the 500 freestyle to add to the Princeton lead.
Rossouw came in first in the 100 butterfly before the Tigers wrapped up the day with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay.
Charlotte Martinkus picked up wins in both the three-meter diving and one-meter.
