December 09, 2024 | Women's Swimming and Diving
The menu at DeNunzio Pool this past weekend included more than just the Big Al Invitational, though that was the main event for the Princeton women's and men's swimming and diving teams.
There was also a meet within the meet, since the Princeton and Columbia women scored their races as a dual meet as well. In the end, the final score would be Princeton 186, Columbia 112.
Princeton won 13 of the 16 events, including two events in which Princeton had the top four and two others in which Princeton had the top three. The two events that finished 1-2-3-4 Tigers were the three-meter diving, with Charlotte Norman, Charlotte Martinkus, Maggie Squire and Maddie Seltzer and the 100 backstroke with Sabrina Johnston, Isabella Korbly, Edie Simecek and Alexas Pappas. Johnston, Korbly and Grace Black came home 1-2-3 in the 200 backstroke, and Eleanor Sun, Dakota Tucker and Johnston did the same in the 200 IM.
The other Princeton wins came from Ela Noble in the 50 free, Simecek in the 100 butterfly (with Korbly in second), Jenna Walters in the 200 free, Ela Noble in the 100 free, Tucker in the 200 breaststroke (followed by Sun), Seltzer in the one-meter diving and Heidi Smithwick in the 200 fly.
