No. 22 Women's Swimming & Diving Wins Both Events On Opening Night At Ivy Championships

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 22 Princeton University women's swimming & diving team had a dominant start to the Ivy League Championships Wednesday night at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center, winning both events contested and ending the night in first place.
The Tigers won both the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay, earning 128 points. The Tigers are 18 points clear of Harvard and Brown, who each have 110.
200 Medley Relay
The quartet of Alexa Pappas, Margaux McDonald, Sabrina Johnston and Ela Noble opened the meet with a first-place finish, clocking in at 1:36.79. Along with earning an NCAA B cut, they set new meet, school and pool records. The previous meet record of 1:36.89 was set by Yale in 2023, while the pool record of 1:37.71 was also set by Yale in 2017. The previous program record of 1:36.89 was set in 2023 by Pappas, McDonald, Nikki Venema '23 and Johnston.
800 Freestyle Relay
Ellie Marquardt, Johnston, Eleanor Sun and Heidi Smithwick made it two wins from two events after finishing in 7:04.45. Their time was also an NCAA B cut.
The Tigers resume competition at the Ivy League Championships tomorrow with prelims at 11 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
