Weintraub Wins Gold at Hong Kong World Cup

Headed for the Paris Olympics this summer, Maia Weintraub won senior women's foil gold at the Hong Kong World Cup event that wrapped on May 3.
Weintraub, a sophomore in 2022-23 and taking the year off from Princeton as she pursued her Olympic bid, finished atop 163 fencers at the event, defeating South Korea's Nayoon Kim 15-5 in the round of 65, Singapore's Amita Berthier 15-14 in the round of 32, fellow American and reigning Olympic gold medalist Lee Kiefer 15-14 in the round of 16, Canadian Jessica Zi Jia Guo 15-8 in the quarters, Italian Arianna Errigo 15-13 in the semis, and Italian Elena Tangherlini 15-11 in the final.

Weintraub will be a part of the U.S. women's foil team when that weapon's team competition is held on Aug. 1.
