Liu Opens NCAA Regional With +2 Round Of 74

Junior Victoria Liu opened her third trip to the NCAA Regionals with a 74, finishing +2 for the day and sitting tied for 31st out of the 66 golfers competing this week at Spanish Trail Golf Club in Las Vegas.
Liu carded three birdies in her round and parred 10 holes on her way to the two-over round. She was even par on her first nine after teeing off on No. 10 and picking up a birdie 4 on her second hold (No. 11). Liu took advantage of the par 5s, recording birdies on three of the four par 5s and settling for par on the fourth.
After 18 holes, Liu is eight strokes off the lead currently held by Kajal Mistry (Arkansas) who was -6 on the opening day of play. Liu, who needs to be the highest-finishing individual player whose team does not advance through is three strokes off that number which is currently -1 set by New Mexico's Myah McDonald.
The second round tees off for Liu on Tuesday at 9:50 a.m. PST.
