No. 5 Water Polo Hosts Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J.- The No. 5 Princeton men's water polo team is set to host its home tournament, the Princeton Invitational. The Tigers will play their first home games of 2024, starting off against the No. 19 Santa Clara Broncos on Friday, Sept. 13. at 6:30 p.m.

Tigers to Watch
Roko Pozaric led the charge for Princeton on his way to being named NWPC Player of the Week. He scored 10 goals in three games for the Tigers and racked up five steals, five assists, one block, and an 8-0 sprint record.
Kristóf Kovács earned a 3-0 record in goal and allowed just 12 goals while making 38 saves. Kovács held every team Princeton faced to single-digit goals. The Princeton keeper tallied five assists and two steals.
Rookie Gavin Appeldorn started his collegiate career off strong in his first three games, scoring nine goals and grabbing seven steals.
History
Princeton has taken the last four matchups over Santa Clara, most recently a 15-7 victory at last season's Princeton Invitational.
The Tigers have bested the Midshipmen in their last 13 meetings dating back to 2013.
The most recent game between Princeton and UC San Diego came in 2019, where the Tritons beat the Tigers 11-10 (OT).
Bucknell hosted the last game in 2023 as Princeton claimed a 13-7 victory.
When Princeton hosted Pacific in October 2023, Princeton came out on top with a final score of 16-9. The Princeton victory was the first over Pacific since 2008.
