Arthur Smith Named To Richter Award Watch List
January 15, 2025 | Men's Ice Hockey
Sophomore goalie Arthur Smith is one of 35 goaltenders across the country named to the Watch List for the 2025 Mike Richter Award which is presented annually by the Hockey Commissioners Associatiob (HCA) to the nation's top goalie.
Smith is one of six netminders from the ECAC among the group. To be named to the initial Watch List, a goalie must have a GAA less than 2.30 and a save percentage higher than .920.
So far this season, Smith boasts a 2.01 GAA and a .926 during a breakout season. His 2.01 GAA leads all ECAC goalies and ranks No. 15 in the country, and his .926 save percentage is No. among ECAC keepers and No. 17 in the nation.
A committee of voters — made up of a cross section of coaches, administrators, scouts and media — will pare this list down to approximately a dozen semifinalists within the next three weeks and then ultimately choose a winner from three finalists who will be announced in April during the NCAA Frozen Four. A similar award to recognize the top female goalie in the NCAA is also presented by the HCA.Â
