
Women's Volleyball Drops Home Opener To Brown

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team dropped its first home match of the 2025 season Friday night inside Dillon Gymnasium to Brown, 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-16).
Lucia Scalamandre led the Tigers in kills with 11 on a .450 hitting percentage, while Sydney Draper handed out a team-high 27 assists. Sydney Bold led the team in digs with 10, and the team-high in blocks of two was shared by Sarah Hom and Shelby Burriss.
The Bears jumped out to a 19-9 advantage in the first set, but a Scalamandre kill led a 4-0 run that narrowed the deficit to six at 19-13. While the Tigers tried to claw away at Brown's lead, the Bears held on for the 25-17 win in the first set.
A Scalamandre kill followed by a double block by Scalamandre and Hom then a Hom kill put Princeton ahead early in the second set, 5-4. Brown would soon use a 9-0 run to surge ahead, 15-9, then hold on for the victory in the second set, 25-21.
The third set saw Brown continue to perform at a high level, going on an early 6-0 run to take a 10-point advantage, 16-6. The Bears didn't look back from there, earning a 25-16 triumph in the third set and a sweep of the match.
