Men’s Water Polo Picks Up Two Wins In Saturday Tripleheader

PRINCETON, N.J.- The Princeton men's water polo team faced a busy slate of three games on Saturday. The Tigers started the day with a matchup against the Fordham Rams followed by two conference contests against the Iona Gaels and the LIU Sharks.
After falling in the first game to Fordham, Princeton bounced back and secured two wins against Iona and LIU.

The Rams and the Tigers traded goals to open the contest before Princeton took a 4-3 lead on a goal from Taylor Bell. Again the teams went back and forth as the score stood at 5-5 after the first quarter.
Fordham strung together three straight to put Princeton down but Adam Peocz found the back of the cage to try and stop the Rams. Peocz scored with under a minute left in the second to cut the Rams' lead to four going into the halftime break.
The lead for the Rams ballooned to seven goals in the third, but back to back tallies from Bell and Enrique Nuno set the score to 10-15 going into the final quarter.
Princeton scored four straight but the lead was too much for the Tigers to overcome as they fell 18-14.

#10/11 Princeton 16, Iona 5
Ready to bounce back from the morning game, the Tigers came out firing against the Iona Gaels. Nuno got the scoring started as Princeton went on a 6-0 run in the first quarter as Kristóf Kovács recorded a shutout frame.
Iona got on the board for its first tally to begin the second, but JP Ohl and Gavin Appeldorn made it an 8-1 game.
The Gaels scored four in the second, but that was the most damage Iona could do. Princeton poured in six second half goals while holding Iona to just one in the fourth quarter to secure a 16-5 conference victory.
Appeldorn led the scoring with a hat trick and Kovács had 14 saves in the cage.

After the team celebrated its class of 2026, the Tigers got to work against the LIU Sharks. Appeldorn scored the first of the contest as Princeton went on another scoring run, this time with four goals to open the matchup.
LIU scored just once in the first but a three goal second quarter from Bell kept the Princeton lead up 9-4 going into halftime.
Princeton scored seven goals from six different players in the third and capped it off with a 4-0 run in the fourth to pick up a 20-7 win.
Bell and Nuno each had a hat trick in the contest and Kovács racked up 13 saves as he held opponents to single digit scoring in back to back games.

The Tigers will head up to Providence to take on the Brown Bears followed by a doubleheader matchup against the Harvard Crimson and the MIT Engineers to round out the regular season next weekend.
